On 30th March, the national higher education professional evaluation institution Shanghai Ranking officially released "2023 Chinese Universities Ranking". Nanning University is ranked 29th in the national private universities, advancing 8 places from 37th in 2022, and is the only private university in Guangxi that entered the top 50 in the country.
"Chinese Universities Ranking" was formerly known as "Best Chinese Universities Ranking". It is the first time Shanghai Ranking has applied the classification and evaluation methodology adopted in public universities to the ranking of private universities since it released the ranking of private universities in China in 2020. Since its first release in 2015, it has won wide attention and recognition inside and outside the field of higher education for its professional, objective, and transparent advantages, and has become a leading brand of Chinese university ranking with significant social influence and authoritative reference value. The "2023 Chinese Universities Ranking" targets more than 1,000 undergraduate colleges and universities in China. Its evaluation system has ten evaluation modules, 36 evaluation dimensions, 100 embedded evaluation indicators, and 345 evaluation variables, which is a three-dimensional monitoring evaluation of Chinese universities.
In recent years, the university has been actively exploring the way of running a university of applied technology, with the theme of "quality development, characteristic development, and innovation development", continuously promoting the connotation construction and consolidating the foundation of undergraduate education. Currently, the school has been designated as a master's degree-granting institution in Guangxi, a pilot university for applied technology among the first batch in the country, a pilot school for transformation and development of newly established undergraduate institutions in Guangxi, a demonstration university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in the autonomous region, and the vice chairman and secretary-general unit of the Guangxi Alliance of Applied Undergraduate Universities. Taking 2022 as an example, the university has made great progress in discipline construction, professional construction, teaching and research, industry-teaching-integration university-enterprise cooperation, and innovation and entrepreneurship education. In the "2017-2021 National Ranking of Undergraduate Competitions at Newly Established Undergraduate Institutions" list, the university ranked 80th among similar institutions with a score of 48.38, making it to the top 100 nationwide. Students have won 67 awards in national subject skills competitions and 438 awards in regional competitions. Among them, in the 8th China International "Internet+" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the school won 1 silver medal and 5 bronze medals in the national competition. In the Guangxi regional competition, the school obtained 10 gold medals, 17 silver medals, and 68 bronze medals. The scale of the university continues to expand, with the quality of enrolled students continuously rising, surpassing 20,000 in enrollment. The employment quality of graduates has been consistently improving, and the school has been awarded the title of "Advanced Collective for Employment and Entrepreneurship of Graduates in Guangxi Ordinary Colleges and Universities" for 10 consecutive years.
