To actively implement the educational concept of "application-oriented, open, and new experience", expand educational openness and cooperation, strive to cultivate internationally competent talents, and enhance the level of international education, Nanning University has established an outstanding undergraduate exchange program starting from 2023. This program aims to reward exceptional undergraduate students with scholarships for studying abroad, further broadening their international perspectives and promoting cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
In April, the university issued " Measures for the Management of Nanning University Students Going Abroad for Exchange and Study (for Trial Implementation)" (hereinafter referred to as the Measures), which proposes that the university set up scholarships to support students to go abroad for exchange and study, and the scholarships are divided into two forms: full support and partial support. Full support refers to the school bearing all the costs charged by the agreed institution, such as application fee, visa fee, tuition fee, accommodation fee, management fee, etc., and at the same time,rewarding students participating in the program at the rate of RMB 10,000 per student. Partial support refers to the university awarding students who participate in the program at a rate of RMB 10,000 per student, with other costs to be borne by the students personally.
After the issuance of the Measures, the university officially launched the 2023 program for outstanding undergraduates to study abroad in exchange. After the preliminary selection, the university identified Universiti Putra Malaysia as the 2023 exchange university from the cooperative institutions, which is the 2nd ranked public university in Malaysia, and the majors and courses offered basically cover the existing majors of Nanning University. Through the research and approval of the party and government meeting of the university, the university fully supports 40 full-time undergraduates of the class of 2021 with good character and excellent academic performance to participate in a four-month exchange study at the Universiti Putra Malaysia from October 2023 to February 2024, which is referred to as 2023 Putra Project for short.After mobilization by the faculties, students who met the eligibility criteria applied enthusiastically.
On the evening of May 8 to May 9, the university organized a language test to examine the comprehensive use of English by the students applying for the program through offline written tests and online oral tests respectively, and recommend they participate in the 2023 Putra Project on the basis of merit. After the language test, the faculties will organize the defense of the students who have passed the language test and the final recommendation will be made on the basis of merit.
The 2023 Putra Project is the first time the university to launch scholarships to fully support outstanding students to go abroad for exchange programs, which is an important initiative of the university to implement the "Ten Action Plans" of the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the foreign cooperation and exchange to enhance the plan. It has received strong support from faculties and departments and positive response from students. In the future, the university will take support for outstanding students to go abroad for exchange and study as a regular annual work, further expand the cooperation channels, enrich the contents and forms of exchanges, and constantly improve the students' sense of gain and satisfaction.
